Jason Line exits early at Raceway Park

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 24, 2007) -- It was not the day that Jason Line envisioned, as his KB Racing LLC, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO came up short by an eyelash in his opening round race against Jim Yates during eliminations today at the 38th annual NHRA ProCare Rx SuperNationals.

Yates took a 38 hundredths of a second advantage at the green light then covered the quarter-mile track at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., in 6.656 seconds. Chasing Yates for the entire quarter-mile, Line ran out of real estate and missed catching his opponent by one hundredth of a second. Line recorded an elapsed time of 6.628 seconds in a losing effort.

The loss broke Line's streak of three consecutive wins here at the legendary Raceway Park, but he still holds the distinction of being the only Pro Stock driver to win three consecutive races on the legendary quarter-mile in Englishtown, N.J.

After 10 events, Line is currently fourth in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standings, 326 points behind his teammate, Greg Anderson, who leads the Pro Stock standings in the first segment of the Countdown to the Championship. Line has 628 points; while, Anderson has 954.
