RIVAS TAKES SECOND CAREER POLE AT ENGLISHTOWN; MARKING HIS SECOND CONSECUTIVE POLE POSITION

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J., June 21, 2008 - Chris Rivas rode the G2 Motorsports/Drag Specialties/S&S Cycle

V-Twin to his second best quarter-mile elapsed time (e.t.) and captured the pole for Sunday's Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals here at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

After a run of 6.923 seconds at191.92 miles per hour during the third qualifying session, the 41-year-old Fresno, Calif. native beat two of his career best records (lowest e.t. and best mph) since joining the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle series in 2005. During the final qualifying session, Rivas ran a 9.949 e.t. at 192.19-mph.

"Things have been working out for us," said Rivas. "We keep making consistent laps and I told the team that I won't change my (driving) habits and as long as the crew doesn't change anything they're doing, we will be a winning combination.

"The entire team has been great: we figured out how to tune the motorcycle correctly and we've been making decisions together. We're a dangerous team right now." Even after changing the rear tire in between today's qualifying sessions, Rivas had a great fourth qualifying run of 6.949 e.t. at 192.19-mph.

Rivas will enter Sunday's race against Ryan Schnitz, the number 16 qualifier (7.442 e.t. at 173.01-mph), looking for a second consecutive win.

"Now that I'm at the top, two (poles) aren't enough. I know what winning's like, and now I want more."
