Cory McClenathan's 4.599-Second Time Sixth Best

Englishtown, N.J., June 16, 2006 -- Warm weather and a hot track brought elapsed times up Friday but Cory McClenathan still was able to qualify the Carrier Boyz FRAM Boost Top Fuel dragster sixth for Sunday's K&N Filters SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

He stopped the clock in 4.599 seconds at 321.50 mph. He'll have two more opportunities Saturday to improve his position although temperatures in the high 80s are expected, which probably will slow the cars.

"Considering the conditions, I was fairly happy with the way we ran," he said. "We thought we could run better but the engine dropped a cylinder three at half seconds into the run. Still we are where we want to be, in the top half of the field. We definitely want to keep that."
