ANTRON BROWN POST SECOND STRAIGHT RUNNER-UP FINISH AT ENGLISHTOWN

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 14, 2010) - Antron Brown, a New Jersey native, raced his Don Schumacher-owned Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster to its fourth runner-up finish of the 2010 NHRA season Monday morning at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. The 24-time NHRA winner remains fifth in the Top Fuel standings following 11 of 23 races on the 2010 schedule.

Brown qualified the Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster fourth Saturday afternoon at the 41st annual SuperNationals and on race day defeated Scott Palmer, Terry McMillen and Doug Kalitta to advance to his second straight final round and fourth career final at Raceway Park, his home track. Sunday's final rounds were postponed due to afternoon and evening rain showers.

Facing off against Dixon for the fourth time this season and the fourth time in the money round, Brown used a starting line advantage with a .077 of-a-second reaction time to race the bright blue Matco-backed rail to the early lead, but the local favorite's dragster lost traction and slowed to a pass of 6.314 seconds at 101.94 mph. Dixon cruised to his second quickest pass of the weekend at 3.824 at 320.05 to score his sixth win in 11 races this season. Brown is now 0-4 against the Alan Johnson Racing car this year and 0-7 versus Dixon since the two-time Top Fuel champion made the move to Al-Anabi Racing in 2009. Brown now has a mark of 16-11 in 27 rounds this season and is 8-11 in 19 carerer Top Fuel final rounds and 24-28 in 52 career finals.

"That was a bummer to have to wait around and lose like that, but it was still a good weekend for our DSR Matco Tools team," Brown said. "We ran very well this weekend and qualified well, we just can't beat (Larry) Dixon and those Al-Anabi boys. They've had our number for the last two seasons. We're tired of being the bridesmaid, that's for sure. Our Matco Tools car is running great and we're determined to get back into that winner's circle real soon for all our Matco Tools distributors and Army Strong soldiers."

The next NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event is the 10th annual Thunder Valley Nationals, June 18-20, at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn. Last year at the Bristol race, Brown qualified seventh (3.898-seconds) and posted a quarterfinal finish to Brandon Bernstein. He has yet to advance past the second round in two tries at the Bristol NHRA race.
