MATCO TOOLS SIGNS MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH DON SCHUMACHER
Antron Brown Will Pilot Matco Tools Dragster
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Oct. 6, 2010) - Matco Tools, a manufacturer and distributor of quality professional automotive equipment, tools and toolboxes, has signed a multi-year contract extension with Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) team owner Don Schumacher announced today. Antron Brown, a 24-time NHRA winner, will drive the Matco Tools Top Fuel dragster.
"We're excited that Matco Tools will continue its longstanding relationship with DSR and its support of Antron Brown and the Matco Tools Top Fuel team," Schumacher said. "Matco (Tools) has been very loyal to DSR and we thank Matco and all its distributors for many years of support. We will continue to represent Matco at the highest level possible and help ensure that Antron (Brown) competes for championships each year."
Matco Tools has been associated with Don Schumacher Racing since the late 1990s and will continue as the official tool provider to DSR. Matco outfits all six DSR teams with tools and tool boxes as well as the team's fabrication and machine shops and hospitality and show car programs. Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald will remain as the crew chiefs for Brown's team.
"We're pleased to extend our partnership with DSR," Matco Tools President Tom Willis said. "DSR has represented Matco Tools at the highest level winning many races and championships, and always delivers a great hospitality experience for our distributors and customers and we know that will carry on over the next few seasons. In the field we pride ourselves on quality and innovation and the entire Schumacher Racing operation also excels in those areas both at the race shop and on the race track."
Brown, 34, has been a Matco Tools Racing driver since the summer of 2002 when he joined DSR as a rider of the U.S. Army Suzuki Pro Stock Motorcycle. In 10 seasons in the two-wheel ranks, Brown won 16 races and earned 11 No. 1 qualifying awards. Now in his third season in Top Fuel, the Matco Tools flagship driver has won eight races in 21 final rounds and claimed 15 poles.
"This is very exciting and I couldn't be more proud to represent Matco Tools and all 1,500 Matco Tools distributors," Brown said. "We have a great cheering section at each race thanks to all the Matco distributors and customers. Being here at DSR, we have all the resources to contend for the Full Throttle championship each year and that's our goal. We're thrilled to keep our big blue Matco Tools dragster rolling strong for the next few years."
