Dom Lagana eager for another great run on raceday in Englishtown

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 2, 2012) – The Paul Richards Racing NTB/Service Central Top Fuel team is already having an amazing weekend at the 43rd annual Toyota NHRA SuperNationals, and really, it has only just begun. Driver Dom Lagana piloted their well-prepared rail to four solid runs to earn a raceday start at an event very near and dear to the heart of the family-oriented team because it takes place at their home track.

The NTB/Service Central crew prepared their dragster for a steady 3.94 to start the weekend and then clocked an efficient 3.864, 317.49 mph the next round to nearly surpass Lagana’s career best e.t. Although the performance was one to celebrate, the e.t. just missed the top 12 in the very quick session, and so their time did not carry over to day two of the event.

With a fresh slate, Lagana put a number on the board on Saturday morning – a 3.94, and improved upon the time with a 3.894 in the final round to move into the No. 14 position and score a first-round match with Al-Anabi Racing’s Shawn Langdon.

“We knew we were already in when we pulled into the waterbox in the last session, but we still wanted to make a good run and not do anything stupid,” said Lagana. “We were excited to get to prove ourselves one more time, and to make it down the track all four laps in qualifying was really awesome. It turned out to be an awesome run, and we’re definitely really happy to be racing on Sunday for NTB and Service Central.

“It was also really cool for all of our family and friends who came out. We have a lot of people who come to this race to support us, and to run like we’ve been running – it’s just something to be proud of. It really shows that everybody has been working their butts off. Now we get to try and make another run like that tomorrow.”

Lagana’s first-round opponent, No. 3 qualifier Langdon, is another young gun in the category and should prove to be a worthy challenger.

“Langdon and that Al-Anabi car have been coming on strong at this race,” said Lagana. “We know we really can’t try to outrun him, but we can definitely try to make it down the track and put on a good show. We’ll just go out there and try to do well for the NTB/Service Central folks and give our friends and family something to really cheer about.”
