Jerry Toliver And Dale Armstrong Prepare Wwf Racing For Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals
DENVER, Colorado (July 17, 2001) -- Preparing for the Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway is no easy task according to Dale Armstrong, Crew Chief for Jerry Toliver and the World Wrestling Federation Racing team.
Armstrong, in his second season with Toliver Racing as Managing Crew Chief, is expecting the Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals, July 20-21, to be a turning point race for Toliver Racing.
"We changed our program for the race in Denver and how we apply horsepower to the track," said Armstrong. "This is a great event but certainly a challenging track to get down, especially when the weather is hot and the air is thin. The hard part isn't creating the horsepower, it's getting enough down force to keep the tires from losing traction."
"The Friday night qualifying session will be very critical at this race," continued Armstrong. "The air will be the heaviest it's going to get over the weekend and more down force will be produced; because of the down force the tires will stick to the race track better than when the air is thin causing the cars to run faster times."
Last year both WWF Racing entries qualified in the top half of the field and made it to the second round. With the way the Funny Car field has been performing so far this season, the National Hot Rod Association should expect to see new track records set in both time and speed.
"This season the Funny Car field is continuously breaking records, this weekend in Denver should be the same and our goal is to have WWF Racing be the team to do it," said Toliver, driver of the WWF Pontiac Firebird Funny Car.
Toliver Racing is in its fourth season of competition in the NHRA Drag racing Series in 2001. Toliver Racing has six wins to its credit as well as a third and fifth place finish in the 2000 season points championship. The Toliver Racing prepared Raw is War/Triple H Pontiac Firebird will be driven by Jerry Toliver.
