Geoffrion fails to qualify at Mile-High Nationals
Nitro Fish Escort ZX2 has best of 7.312 seconds

MORRISON, Colo., July 19, 2003 -- The 13th race of the NHRA POWERade season proved unlucky for Scott Geoffrion and Hurley Blakeney's Nitro Fish Ford Escort ZX2 team when they didn't qualify for the Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.

Geoffrion experienced tire shake and tire spin on his last attempt, one that looked good until the tires lost traction.

"I look at this as a character builder for the whole team," Geoffrion said. "Pro Stock is the toughest class in racing, so you aren't going to qualify sometimes. I thought we had a chance to get into it on that last run. We had our best 60-foot time but it was like being on ice in second and third gear."

Geoffrion had qualified for 10 straight events since the ZX2 entered competition in March.
