Whisnant to sit out Denver

MORRISON, Colo. -- Mark Whisnant, driver of the RW Performance / Snap-On Tools Chevrolet Cavalier has failed to qualify for the 24th annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals. Whisnant's best attempt of the weekend came in the Friday night session of qualifying where he ran a 7.302 / 188.96 mph which would only be good enough for the 17th position and out of Sundays race.

"I am very disappointed," said Whisnant. "We are trying our hardest, but we are coming up short. It is hard to keep a positive attitude, but we are trying to keep our heads up. We are working hard trying to get this RW Performance / Snap-On Tools car back on track. We know that with time and hard work it will come back around, but right now it is hard to see that light at the end of the tunnel."

The next race on the 2003 NHRA POWERade schedule will be the 16th annual Carquest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Seattle, Wash. July 25-27.
