Snake Racing News: Larry Dixon Denver Friday Qualifying (Canceled)

MORRISON, Colo. (July 16, 2004)- Steady rainfall in the Denver area forced NHRA officials to cancel Friday's two scheduled qualifying attempts at Bandimere Speedway.

Two-time defending NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon entered the 25th annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals in fourth place in the POWERade points standings after posting an 8-2 elimination round record at the past three races, including his 34th career victory in New Jersey in June, behind the wheel of his Miller Lite dragster. Dixon is the defending event champion of the Denver race. He also won at Bandimere Speedway in 2001.

Qualifying begins Saturday with professional sessions at 3 and 6 p.m. (MT).

ESPN2 will televise two hours of qualifying highlights from the Mopar Mile-High Nationals at 8 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, July 17, and broadcast 150 minutes of final eliminations coverage at 9 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, July 18.
