FIRST ROUND EXIT IN DENVER PUTS TASCA IN 11TH
MORRISON, Colo. (July 13, 2008) -- It just wasn't Bob Tasca III's weekend at Bandimere Speedway in Colorado. After the rookie driver bounced back to earn a top-half qualifying position on Saturday, Tasca was defeated by Ron Capps in the first round of eliminations on Sunday.
"Obviously today was very disappointing for us," said Tasca. "We just haven't had the luck go our way on Sunday's this year. It's always hard to lose; it's never a good feeling, but you've got to move forward and take the good from the bad and focus on the next few weeks of racing."
The driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane/Custom Accessories Shelby Mustang dropped one spot in the championship points to 11th, only two points behind 10th-place driver, Jack Beckman.
"It's always frustrating when you're out of the race and can't control your own destiny," said the Rhode Island resident on going out in the first round. "There were some other drivers that went more rounds then us, and Jack was able to get around us in the points. If we're going to get back into the top 10, we need to go some rounds. I feel very confident that we have all the resources and tools to do that, unfortunately, today we just didn't do it.
"I had a pretty good reaction time for my run, and then we just went into tire smoke," said the third-generation Ford dealer. "I pedaled it the best I could and recovered it, but Ron had recovered already and I wasn't, and he drove around me in the lights."
