Taylor looking to close season out strong.

ENNIS, Texas - With only two more national events on his team's schedule, NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car ace Dennis Taylor and his Cooner Wire backed team hope to make a strong showing at their next-to-last race, this weekend's O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec at the Texas Motorplex just south of Dallas.

Taylor, who runs his racing safety equipment company, Taylor Motorsports Products, in Anaheim, Calif., hopes to use the momentum of a strong showing at the Div. 6 event in Medford, Ore., two weeks ago this weekend.

"We found some things in Medford," said Taylor. "I think we have the ball rolling in the right direction. We have always ran better at the good tracks, and the Motorplex is about as good as they come. As always at a NHRA national event, there will be a lot of heavy hitters, but it's about time we go back to being one of them."

"With the conditions we should see this weekend, you will definitely have to be in the 5.60's just to be a player," added Taylor. "We certainly are striving for that level."

Qualifying will begin on Friday for the alcohol cars with two sessions. One final session Saturday morning will conclude qualifying with round one of eliminations later in the afternoon. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
