Taylor set to make a splash in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car ace Dennis Taylor and his Cooner Wire backed team will be looking to make a splash during this weekend's Division 7 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. Taylor feels his team just needs to have luck on their side for a change to have a breakout weekend.

Taylor, who runs his racing safety equipment company, Taylor Motorsports Products, in Anaheim, Calif., cites that his tuner Randy Goodwin has given the team a tune-up that can win races, just different problems have jumped up and bit them throughout the year.

"This Cooner Wire car definitely has the potential to run with anybody out there," said Taylor. "It's just a matter of making it happen. Our goal this weekend is just to make it all come together and get the car to go down the track consistently. If we can do that, I think we'll have a good weekend."

The weekend will also mark the first weekend with newly signed associate sponsor Adam's Polishes. Adam's Polishes manufactures a complete line of premium car care products. Taylor hopes to make this weekend a strong debut of their new partner.

"We're very happy to bring Adam's Polishes on board this weekend," stated Taylor. "They make premium car care products, and we feel NHRA Drag Racing is a great medium to get their product to automotive enthusiasts. Hopefully we can get them and the rest of our sponsors a win this weekend."

Qualifying begins on Friday, with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
