DIXON EXPRESS ROLLS INTO DALLAS -- Larry Dixon heads to Dallas this week on a three-race winning streak after capturing victories at Brainerd in the regular-season finale and then triumphing in the first two rounds of the Countdown to the Championship playoffs at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis and Sunday in Charlotte. This past weekend's performance extended his championship lead to 85 points with four races remaining. The 2001 and 2002 Top Fuel champion has won 11 races overall this season, including 10 of the last 15. During that span, he has advanced to the semi-finals or finals in 13 of the 15 events.
CRUZ'IN -- After struggling through the first half of the season, Cruz Pedregon and the revamped Snap-On Tools Toyota Camry Solara Funny Car team have become a force in the latter portions of the 2010 campaign. Pedregon won his first race of the season this past weekend at Charlotte in dominating fashion, topping three of the four qualifying sessions and then running the two fastest elimination runs of the day on Sunday. The two-time Funny Car champ has qualified in the top five in six of the last eight events and has advanced to the semis or finals twice in the last four events.
WINNING IN BIG D -- Three of this weekend's Toyota-sponsored drivers have registered multiple victories at the Texas Motorplex. Larry Dixon won Top Fuel events in 2001 and 2007. In addition, both Toyota Funny Car drivers have two wins in Dallas as Cruz Pedregon won in 1992 and 1994 and Del Worsham registered wins in 2002 and 2004.
LAST YEAR IN DALLAS -- Larry Dixon advanced to the finals of last year's Dallas event before losing to Tony Schumacher. Each of the four Toyota-sponsored drivers made it to the second round or further, with Shawn Langdon moving on to the semi-finals before falling to Dixon. Both Antron Brown and Morgan Lucas lost in the second round. In Funny Cars, both Cruz Pedregon and Del Worsham were defeated in round one.
