DIXON TAKES SERIES-HIGH SEVENTH TOP FUEL POLE AT DALLAS

TORRANCE, Calif. (September 25, 2010) -- Larry Dixon stormed to his series-high seventh number one qualifying position on Saturday with a blistering 3.793-second pass to secure the top spot for Sunday's NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series' O'Reilly Super Start Batteries Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas.

Not even a rain delay of more than five hours Saturday could keep Dixon from breaking his own previous track record of 3.820 seconds.

"It was a great run by the Al-Anabi Racing Toyota team," said Dixon. "When I saw the number come up I didn't think it was good enough. I knew it'd be in the top three obviously, but I really thought the two Schumacher cars that ran behind us would run faster. We were just lucky to run a little quicker and get the pole."

Antron Brown also had a strong qualifying run, exceeding the previous track record with a 3.812-secondpass -- to secure the fourth spot for Sunday's eliminations. Shawn Langdon placed ninth, while Morgan Lucas rounded out the Toyota Top Fuel contingent in 14th.

In Funny Car, Cruz Pedregon continued his impressive late-season run in qualifying sixth. After last weekend's pole position and victory, the two-time Funny Car champion has now qualified sixth or better at six consecutive races and in the top half of the field in 10 straight events. Del Worsham will begin eliminations in the 12th spot.
