Team Pennzoil Hoping for Victorious Home Coming

DALLAS (Oct. 14) -- The National Hot Rod Association will roll into the great state of Texas next weekend for the first of two events. To win the 14th Annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals in Dallas and the 3rd Annual Matco Tools SuperNationals in Houston will be the goal for the drivers of Team Pennzoil as they come home to their sponsor's home state.

A win at the Dallas event would be a special treat for Eddie Hill, pilot of the Pennzoil Top Fuel Dragster, because his hometown of Wichita Falls, Texas is just an hour from the track.

"We are always glad to be going back to Dallas," said Hill. "There are a lot of fond memories there, like the first time we got in the fours and the $100,000 bonus we won when they first opened the track. Plus it's like old home week, we get to see a lot of our old racing buddies and all the kinfolk come out to cheer us on. With that kind of support and the good racing surface, we should have no problem getting after it."

Coming off another good qualifying run in Memphis, Bruce Allen, driver of the Outlaw Fuel Additives Pontiac Firebird, is hoping to bring a win home in the Pro Stock division. Something that would be a special treat because its his home track and there will be lots of supporters present to share the experience.

Our car is getting to be more consistent and the performance is real good right now," said Allen. "We should be a factor in this race. Dallas is our home track and there will be lots of fans and family on hand to cheer us on which is nice, but we will have to concentrate that much harder on our performance to out weigh the distractions.

"I like Dallas because it's an awesome track. "It's real smooth and you really like racing there because it is a good track. Now, if we can get some more performance out of the driver we should have no problem qualifying well and winning rounds on Sunday."

Mike Thomas, driver of the Pennzoil Pontiac Firebird, is also looking for a Dallas win in the Pro Stock division. He qualified well here in the spring and feels that with a little luck and consistency a win is within reach.

"Qualifying third here in the spring was a big boost at the beginning of the season," said Thomas. "Now if we could qualify well and finish well it would an even bigger boost at the end of the season. I like the track and if we could gain some consistency between the qualifying and running the elimination rounds on Sunday we should have no problem finishing well. A little luck wouldn't hurt either."

The O'Reilly Fall Nationals is scheduled for Oct. 21-24 at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas. For more information on times and ticket prices call the track at (972)-878-2641.
