Dallas, Texas (Nov. 3) - After yet another day of heavy rainfall at the 15th Annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals, officials of the National Hot Rod Association were forced to set the Pro Stock Truck field based on position in the points standings.
This ruling is bittersweet for the DBP Enterprises Pro Stock Truck team. As the points stand today, this will place team driver Greg Stanfield in the fourth position on the eliminations ladder. Owner/driver Bart Price currently holds the 17th position and will not be able to compete in the 16-truck field.
"We are not unhappy about the ruling," said Price. "The NHRA had a tough decision to make, and I feel the decision they made was fair.
"The weather has delayed the race once, and the NHRA has a responsibility to the people in the points chase to do everything in their power to see that this race is run. It is unfortunate for myself. I end up on the outside looking in. It is possible that I could have qualified in the top 16, but who is to say for sure. They made the ruling and now we have to live with it."
Team driver Greg Stanfield will meet Taylor Lastor in Round 1 of eliminations.
"I'm just happy to be racing," said Stanfield. "Hey, maybe we could have been Number 1 qualifier, but then again, we could have DNQ'ed. We are racing and that's what counts.
"I have Taylor (Lastor) in Round 1, and he is always tough. He is a good driver and competitor. You can never overlook a guy like that. Everyone in this class is tough to beat, and we can't take him or anyone else for granted.
"We will give it everything we have and hopefully we will be able to go a couple of rounds tomorrow. I'm just happy to be racing."
