GOODYEAR WINS SEVEN TIMES IN NHRA EVENT

ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 24, 2006) -- Duane Shields, Kebin Kinsley and Tom Schmidt used Goodyear tires to win NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series sportsman competition and four other drivers won professional categories on Goodyears as the Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker beat all other tire industry competitors in the O'Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.

The seven wins gave Goodyear 105 for the 2006 season, far and away the most successful tire total this year.

Shields was the winner in Top Alcohol Dragster, Kinsley won in Top Alcohol Funny Car and Schmidt was the Competition Eliminator winner.

Brandon Bernstein led Goodyear's sweep of the POWERade professional categories, winning in Top Fuel. Robert Hight won in Funny Car, Richie Stevens was the Pro Stock winner and Shelly Payne won in Pro Mod.

Shields is a multiple winner in TAD but Kinsley collected his first victory in national event competition. Schmidt won his second national event of the season.

Bernstein beat Rod Fuller in the Top Fuel final and moved within 40 points of the category lead.

Hight beat Mike Ashley in the final round of Funny Car. The win moved him within 93 points of the lead in the championship chase.

Stevens won the fifth national event of his career when he beat Mike Edwards in the Dallas final.

Payne saved her quickest pass of the weekend for the final round.
