DENSHAM GRABS A QUALIFIER SPOT IN DALLAS

ENNIS, Texas (Oct. 7, 2005) -- Gary Densham is happy to be racing in Texas at the O'Reilly Fall NHRA Nationals at the Texas Motorplex. He moved up from the 16th position to 14th on Friday during the first two rounds of qualifying.

Now he's looking to keep going up.

"We did a few good things today and now we need to get back out there and see what we can do tomorrow," Densham said. "We want to keep improving because this track can handle a lot of power."

Densham drove his Racebricks Chevy Monte Carlo to a 4.876-second pass at 308.00 mph to take the 14th position. Qualifying continues Saturday with sessions at noon and 3 p.m. before final eliminations fire up at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Densham won at this track in 2001, beating John Force in the final. To say the least, he's happy to be racing at the only all-concrete quarter-mile facility.

"This is just a great place to race," Densham said. "We might see some warmer temperatures on Saturday but the track is so well prepared, we can still aim for quicker times tomorrow."

ESPN2 will air all the action from the Motorplex. Qualifying can be seen on ESPN2 at 4 p.m. (ET) on Saturday while eliminations will air at 8 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.
