ENNIS, Texas (September 26, 2004) -- In the opening round of the NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex, near the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex, David Baca, from Brentwood, Calif., in the D. Baca & Family Top Fuel Dragster, ran a respectable 4.693-second pass, only to lose.

His opponent, Larry Dixon, ran the quickest time in round one -- a 4.590 seconds at 321.60 mph.

"It seems like every time we run good enough to win, our opponent goes us one better," said Baca. "We have a car that with some backing from corporate America can be the car that runs the top time of the round. We are building for next year and feel we are developing a tune up that will make a sponsor proud in 2005."

The D. Baca & Family race team will head straight to Joliet, Ill., just outside Chicago, for next weekend's running of the fourth annual CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals. The event will get underway Friday and Saturday, October 1 and 2, with four qualifying sessions, two each day, and end with eliminations on Sunday, October 3.

D. Baca & Family is pleased to be associated throughout the remainder of the 2004 season with marketing support from associate marketing partners: American Racing, Champion Spark Plugs, Don Steves Chevrolet (La Habra, Calif.), Goodyear, Lucas Oil and Mac Tools.
