Hot Track and Weather Conditions Slow Cars

DALLAS, Sept. 22, 2007 -- Cory McClenathan is not intimidated with his 15th starting position for Sunday's O'Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.

"We have a consistent race car," he said of his FRAM Top Fuel dragster after two days of qualifying in hot weather on a hot race track. His best effort was 4.637 seconds at 316.62 mph and puts him against Melanie Troxel (No. 2, 4.545 at 331.94) in the first round of eliminations.

"We ran good Saturday and got down the track in the heat and in tricky conditions," added McClenathan. His 4.659-second run was seventh-quickest for the session. He also had times of 4.645 and 4.659 seconds, all times capable of winning on race day because weather and track conditions will be similar to qualifying.
