Vandergriff ready to run fast at the Motorplex

ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 20, 2006) - Bob Vandergriff Jr. is hoping to find cool autumn air on the always fast quarter mile of the Texas Motorplex for this weekend's running of the O'Rielly NHRA Fall Nationals. After a disappointing rainout in Reading, Pa., last weekend, Vandergriff and the UPS Top Fuel dragster team are eager to see the fruits of their labor. Led by crew chief Jim Dupuy, the team have located some issues in the car that have been haunting them over the last few races.

"We are looking forward to getting back into the top half of the qualifying ladder," Vandergriff said. "We have a very competitive car and an awesome team. We have been fortunate to have Jim's brother Wayne looking over the racecar and he has certainly been an asset. We have struggled with some issues recently and we think we are beyond them now. We were hoping to get to run at Maple Grove before hitting the Texas Motorplex, but in any event, we are ready to produce consistent competitive runs."

Vandergriff is currently in the 14th position in the NHRA POWERade championship points chase.
