ANTRON BROWN QUALIFIES FOURTH AT DALLAS

ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 24, 2010) - Antron Brown raced his Don Schumacher-owned Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster to the No. 4 qualifying position Saturday afternoon at Texas Motorplex. The 24-time NHRA winner used a qualifying-best elapsed time of 3.812-seconds to finish fourth in the field.

Brown, who entered the final day of qualifying for the 25th annual O'Reilly Super Start Fall Nationals in the provisional No. 8 qualifying position, used a tune-ups from crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald to power this Matco Tools/U.S. Army rail in the 3.8-second range twice on Saturday. Brown clocked a lap of 3.884 seconds at 312.29 mph on Saturday's first pass, moving him to sixth in the 16-car order. Brown's best effort came on his final attempt, as the former college track star sped to a run of 3.812 at 321.42 to post the fourth quickest lap of the session. The three DSR Top Fuel cars finished second (Tony Schumacher), third (Cory McClenathan) and fourth (Brown). Brown qualified sixth last year at Dallas at 3.847-seconds and has an average qualifying position of 4.55 in 20 races this season with five poles.

"Our car is making great progress," Brown said. "We've improved on every run here this weekend at Dallas and that last lap was awesome. We went for it and made a great run. We tested on Monday after Charlotte and it's really paying off. Brian (Corradi) and Mark (Oswald) and all the guys are doing a great job. We just need to keep our consistency going on race day and go some rounds and try to climb a few positions in the Countdown (to 1) standings."

Brown will face off against No. 13 qualifier Chris "the Greek" Karamesines in the opening round of eliminations at 11 a.m. (CT) at Texas Motorplex. Brown is 1-0 in his career against the legendary Chicagoland racer and has a mark of 27-19 this season.
