BROWN EARNS PROVISIONAL NO. 6 SPOT FRIDAY AT DALLAS

ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 25, 2009) - Antron Brown drove his Mike Ashley-owned Matco Tools dragster to the provisional No. 6 qualifying position Friday evening at Texas Motoplex. The seven-time Top Fuel winner used an elapsed time of 3.878-seconds to finish sixth in the 16-car order on Friday at the 24th annual O'Reilly Super Start Fall Nationals.

On Brown's first qualifying attempt at the Billy Meyer-owned facility, NHRA's first "Super Track," Brown's Matco Tools/DirecTV rail posted the quickest time to the 330-foot mark at 3.17-seconds before spinning the tires on the hot all-concrete track and slowing to a run of 4.254 seconds at 207.46 mph. The track was 112-degrees for the first qualifying session on Friday afternoon. On Friday's evening pass, the 23-time NHRA winner used a tune-up from crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald to power the Matco Tools/Toyota car to a lap of 3.878 at 314.61 to finish in the provisional No. 6 qualifying position.

"That was a good run for our MAR Matco Tools team," Brown said. "We had to back it down a bit after that first run. It was hauling on that first pass, but was just hopped up a little too much. But it's all good. We're in the show and we can go after some bonus points on Saturday."
