Advance Auto Parts Funny Car Team tests new setup.

Ennis, TX -- Following the Dallas event, Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts Team spent an extra day testing at Texas Motorplex, running a completely new engine combination. Crew Chief Bob Brooks and Consultant Bill Schultz felt some major changes were necessary; specifically the area of refining the fuel system. Much confidence was felt regarding the changes made to the tune-up after running a 4.88 et, at a speed over 316 mph.

"It was necessary for us to stay and try something new," stated Pedregon, Brooks came on board with us at Chicago and felt that because we'd run 4.81 with some success, it appeared the set up was workable, no major changes were needed. But after 2 DNQ's we decided to go with a set up that Bob is more familiar with and do whatever it takes to make this car run strong. I am very impressed with the confidence that Bob and Bill have, willing to make complete changes on the car in efforts to create a level of consistency."

Following the test session, the Advance Auto Parts Racing Team will work their way back to Las Vegas, NV for their next national event held October 25-27th. The AC Delco NHRA Las Vegas Nationals marks the second event at LVMS "The Strip" during the 2002 season.
