ATLANTA, Ga. -- Today at the 23rd annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pro Stock Car drove his Grand Am to a 6.821 / 203.00 mph to place him in the Number 1 position on the Pro Stock eliminations ladder.

"We are very pleased with the way we have run here this weekend," said Anderson. "If you look at the computer our run in the morning session was not really that good. We were sluggish on the bottom and then shook the tires through fourth and fifth. It does not look good on paper, but it worked out for us today.

"I have logged a lot of hours at this race track over the years. That does not necessarily mean that I have a handle on it. This track has really deteriorated over the years. People like Warren (Johnson), Kurt (Johnson), and me: who should know this track like the back of their hands, are having trouble figuring it out.

"Tomorrow it will be a different story. They are calling for cooler temperatures, and cloud cover all day. In those kinds of conditions, every body will be fast. That will even out the field. Tomorrow it will be all about the guy who leaves the starting line first will win. That is the way this Pro Stock racing should be."

Eliminations at the 23rd annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals will begin at 11:00 AM EST on Sunday May 4.
