HEBRON, Ohio (June 15, 2003) -- It's owner, now driver, against previous driver. It's rookie against veteran. It's David Baca against Cory McClenathan in today's opening round of the 39th annual NHRA Pontiac Excitement Nationals at National Trail Raceway.

Baca, the driver of the American Racing/Waterloo Tool Storage/YP.net dragster, has met McClenathan once prior to today, with Cory Mac claiming the win.

It was a classic drag race with McClenathan nipping Baca at the line. Baca's American Racing/Waterloo/ SpeedCash.net dragster crossed the National Trail Raceway finish stripe in 4.656 seconds at 314.02 mph. McClenathan tripped the win light in 4.616 seconds.

"Everybody said that it was a good drag race, but it's never good when you lose," said Baca. "We dropped a cylinder and didn't have the power to catch Cory (McClenathan). Cory and the group over there have a good team but so do we and we'll be back. My thanks to all the Henkelman and Baca team for their hard work this weekend. Sooner or later the racing luck will come our way."

"We want to thank our newest associate sponsor, SpeedCash.net, for their support throughout the weekend. We hopefully look forward to them becoming a permanent part of our marketing partner family."

Baca remains in ninth in the point standings with 508 points.

Baca and the Henkelman & Baca Motorsports/American Racing/Waterloo Tool Storage/Skill Clean Top Fuel Dragster take a weekend off before heading to St. Louis and the NHRA Sears Craftsman Nationals at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill. The event will be contested June 27-29.
