Rain Postpones Completion of 4-Wide Nationals until Monday

A storm that moved into the Charlotte area on Sunday afternoon and drenched zMAX Dragway forced NHRA officials to postpone the final two rounds of Pro Stock eliminations at the 4-Wide Nationals in Concord, NC. Although the original forecast had called for the complete day to be a washout, the 'factory hot rods" were able to complete the first round prior to the rain's arrival. The revised schedule now calls for competition to resume at 11:00 a.m. Monday morning, starting with the final round of the nitro categories.

Among those awaiting the completion of the event were Jason Line and the Summit Racing team, who advanced to the second round from their third starting position with a 6.622-second, 210.24 mph pass. Based in nearby Mooresville, the delay will prove to be nothing more than inconvenience to the crew, who had hoped to put on a show for their hometown fans in the first four-wide Pro Stock national event..

"I feel bad for the fans, many of whom drove a long way to see us racing in the four-wide format," said Line. "Unfortunately, we don't have control over the weather, which, as we saw this weekend can be pretty changeable throughout the month of March.

"The good thing for this Summit Racing team is that, being so close to home, it's not that big of a deal. The only difference is that instead of going to the shop, I'll come back out to the track and try to win this race. We made it out of the first round, but with this format, I think it's going to take a little to get the job done, because none of us are really acclimated to it quite yet.

"However, someone is going to take home the trophy, and I see no reason why it can't be us. We just have to make better runs, and have a little luck. After all, I have a pretty good record on Mondays, and I would certainly like to add to it tomorrow."
