HOT ROD FULLER GRABS PROVISIONAL NO. 8 SPOT FRIDAY AT CHARLOTTE

CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 17, 2010) - "Hot Rod" Fuller raced his ADMM-owned Abu Dhabi/Yas Marina Circuit dragster to the provisional No. 8 qualifying position on Friday evening at zMax Dragway at Concord. The 20-time NHRA winner used an elapsed time of 3.893-seconds on Friday afternoon to finish in the top half of the 16-car order at the third annual O'Reilly Carolinas Nationals.

Fuller, who is making his final start of the 2010 NHRA season, opened qualifying with a stout effort. The seven-time Top Fuel winner used a tune-up from champion crew chief Lee Beard to power his Abu Dhabi-backed rail to a lap of 3.893 seconds at 311.49 mph. It was the second quickest lap of the session. Only seven-time series champion Tony Schumacher was quicker at 3.866-seconds. On his second qualifying effort, Fuller's rail overpowered the all-concrete track in the left lane at zMax Dragway and coasted to a run of 6.016 at 102.21. That positioned the University of Arkansas grad in the No. 8 slot.

"That was a great opening lap that we made in the heat of the day," Fuller said. "We ran that great 3.89 and the track was 124-degrees and it's going to be just as hot on Saturday and even hotter on Sunday, so that's what we'll need to do on race day. We were going for it on the night run and were just too aggressive. We're very happy with the performance of this Abu Dhabi/Yas Marina (Circuit) car."
