Inaugural Four Wide Nationals March 25-28, 2010 zMax Dragway at Concord Concord, N.C.   Antron Brown on the Four Wide Nationals "It's going to be a very exciting, but yet challenging event. Our DSR Matco Tools team is preparing for a very intense and exciting weekend of drag racing at our nicest track on tour. We're not quite sure what to expect, but I think the fans are going to love it. Bruton (Smith) knows how to put on a great show and it should be a great weekend of NHRA drag racing at Charlotte."   Brian Corradi (crew chief) on the Four Wide Nationals "We're going four wide. Wow! We experienced it already last year and we made a good showing in the four wide exhibition even though we didn't have the results we were looking for during the regular race. What we need to do is pick up where we left off at Gainesville as we ran great there."   Antron Brown Four Wide Nationals Notebook Two weeks ago in Gainesville, Fla., Brown raced to his 49th career final round. The 24-time NHRA winner earned his 22nd career No. 1 qualifying award and 11th in Top Fuel with a lap of 3.803 seconds at 321.04 mph, a career-best 1,000-foot speed for Brown. On race day, he advanced to his 16th career Top Fuel final round where he was defeated by DSR and U.S. Army Racing teammate Tony Schumacher after the Matco Tools dragster smoked the tires and slowed to a run of 6.637-seconds.    Entering the fourth race on the 23-race 2010 NHRA schedule, Brown ranks fifth in the Top Fuel standings. He has one pole and final-round appearance after earning seven No. 1 qualifiers and a category-best six wins in 10 final rounds in 2009. He trails Schumacher by 72 points or less than four rounds of racing in the Top Fuel standings.   In two races at zMax Dragway at Concord, Brown has not qualified lower than third. At the inaugural Carolinas Nationals in 2008, Brown was edged by Schumacher in a close final round match, 3.882 seconds to 3.923. Last September, after qualifying second, Brown suffered a rare opening-round defeat to upstart Terry McMillen.   Brown and the Matco Tools team were invited to participate in the four-lane exhibition at zMax Dragway on Sept. 20, 2009. The Bruton Smith-owned facility is the only track on the professional NHRA circuit that has four all-concrete quarter mile lanes as opposed to the traditional two lanes. Brown, along with Morgan Lucas, Brandon Bernstein and Spencer Massey, competed in the exhibition race before the final round at the second annual Carolinas Nationals last fall. Brown posted the quickest Top Fuel pass at 3.86-seconds.   -source: dsr
