Bristol, Tenn., May 3, 2004 -- Final Eliminations were completed today after a rainy weather system canceled activities for Sunday at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn.

Defending Funny Car champion Tony Pedregon came into today's eliminator qualified 12th in his Quaker State Chevrolet Camaro and faced Eric Medlen in the first round. This was the second meeting for the two in competition, with the first in Phoenix with Pedregon taking the win on his way to a runner up finish.

This time around it was Medlen who got the win light after Pedregon smoked the tires. Medlen crossed the stripe with an elapsed time of 4.806 seconds at 315.49 mph to Pedregon's elapsed time of 11.927 seconds at 77.22 mph.

"We were just a little too aggressive," said Pedregon.J"It's unfortunate but it just wasn't our weekend. We're going to stay here and test tomorrow to get some more data before we head to Atlanta next week. We've got a three race swing coming up to prepare for and we want to be as ready as we can be. There's a lot of racing left but these three races coming up will be important to do well at giving us momentum for the rest of the season."

Pedregon remains 10th in the NHRA POWERade points standings.

The next event for the Quaker State racing team will be the NHRA Nationals at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga. on May 13-16.
