Bristol, Tennessee (April 27, 2001) - Jerry Toliver and Tony Bartone, drivers for the World Wrestling Federation Racing team, are ready to race for Winston points when they arrive this weekend in Bristol, Tennessee. Bristol Dragway, home of the 2001 Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals will come alive when the National Hot Rod Association comes to town April 27-29, 2001
In recent years, Bristol Dragway has been the facility that hosted the "Winston No Bull Showdown," where the reward was a large sum of money rather than Winston points. For the first time in 34 years, drivers will have the opportunity to compete in an NHRA Winston national event at Bristol Dragway's "Thunder Valley."
"In the past the "Winston No Bull Showdown" has been a great event, pitting Top Fuel and Funny Cars against each other for a cash prize. The Bristol Dragway is a premier facility and this team is very pleased to return this year and race for Winston points," said Jerry Toliver, driver of the 2001 XFL Pontiac Firebird.
This weekend will mark the first time Tony Bartone will drive down the quarter-mile track at Bristol Dragway in a Top Fuel Funny Car for those illustrious Winston points. "I am looking forward to racing this weekend at Bristol Dragway. This year's Funny Car field is very competitive and this team is looking to go out there and prove what we are made of. This is a high quality track and racing for points makes this event that much more exciting," said Tony Bartone, driver of the 2000 WrestleManiaÒ Pontiac Firebird.
Jerry Toliver and the World Wrestling Federation Racing team are arriving in Bristol with expectations to be major contenders for the 2001 Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals title. "This team has been working diligently to make our cars run at the level the rest of the Funny Car field is running at. We have participated in two separate testing sessions at the Atlanta Dragway. During that time, this team has made great strides and we are confident our hot rods are going to be just that: hot rods."
Toliver Racing is in its fourth season of competition in the NHRA Drag Racing Series in 2001. Toliver Racing has six wins to its credit as well as a third and fifth place finish in the 2000 season points championship. The Toliver Racing prepared WWF/XFL and WrestleMania Pontiac Firebirds will be driven by Jerry Toliver and Tony Bartone, respectively.
