Team Jeg's out in round two.
In the opening round Jeg Coughlin and his Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier was pitted against former IHRA Pro Stock standout Tom Lee. The two drivers had never faced off in competition. Coughlin had lane choice and took the right lane.
Jeg launched first with a .431 and Lee followed with a .450 reaction time. The win went to Coughlin on a hole shot by .001 seconds at the stripe. Jeg ran a 7.027 at 197.02 mph.
"We were a little on the aggressive with the wheel speed off of the line. Once the car settled down it took of like a rocket," commented Jeg.
All eyes were on Troy Coughlin when he rolled the yellow and black Jeg's machine into the water-box. The match up was a classic Pro Stock family battle, Coughlin picked the right lane and stuffed Kurt Johnson in the left lane.
Coughlin was ready for battle and left the starting line first with a .443 reaction time. The Jeg's Mail Order entry was quicker at every incremental point down the track. Troy turned on the win light with a significantly quicker 6.984 at 197.83 mph.
"The car felt great the minute I let the clutch out. We have really worked hard to find a solid balance between the engine and chassis," said Troy.
In the second round Troy started the batting order for Team Jeg's. Troy went head-to-head with Mike Edwards and Coughlin took the right lane. Troy got the jump off of the line by .003 seconds. The win light went to Edwards at the big end. Troy ran a competitive 7.013 at 197.48 mph.
"We had a car capable of winning today. Our team worked like a well-oiled machine throughout the weekend. We just should have been more aggressive with our setup in the second round. Our focus will switch to improving in Atlanta and getting the yellow and black Jeg's colors back into the winner's circle," explained Troy.
Jeg lined up next to V. Gaines in the second round. The pairing pitted two Chevy cavaliers head-to-head. Gaines rolled into both lights quickly and Jeg took his time. Coughlin was first off of the line with a .456 reaction time and V. Gaines followed .027 second later. The win light came on for Gaines and Jeg posted a 7.032 at 196.24 mph.
"We made a little noise this weekend with the Jeg's machines. Our program is moving in the right direction and getting back to being a top half player again," stated Jeg.
