O'REILLY NHRA THUNDER VALLEY NATIONALS

WHAT: Seventh annual O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Q, the 12th of 23 events in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. Professional competitors in three categories earn points leading to 2007 NHRA POWERade Series world championships.

Sportsman competitors in four categories earn points leading to 2007 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series world championships.

WHERE: Bristol Dragway, Bristol, Tenn. From Interstate 81 North, take Hwy. 11E. Take the Virginia Exit 3 and Hwy. 11E will take you directly to the Dragway. >From the I-81 South, take Tennessee exit 69 and go south on Hwy 394 directly to the Dragway.

WHEN: Friday through Sunday, July 6-8.

PURSE: Cash and contingency awards of more than $1.2 million.

FRIDAY, July 6
Sportsman qualifying and eliminations, begin at 8 a.m.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, July 7
Sportsman eliminations begin at 8 a.m.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

SUNDAY, July 8
Pre-race ceremonies, 11 a.m.

FINAL ELIMINATIONS begin at noon

TELEVISION: Saturday, July 7, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD will televise two hours of qualifying coverage at 4 p.m. (ET).

Sunday July 8, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD will telecast NHRA Race Day, a 30-minute news magazine show, at 11 a.m. (ET).

Sunday, July 8, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD will televise three hours of final round eliminations at 9:30 p.m. (ET).

2006 EVENT WINNERS: Doug Kalitta, Top Fuel; Ron Capps, Funny Car; Jason Line, Pro Stock.

TRACK FACTS: Bristol Dragway opened in 1965 under NHRA sanction. After nearly 30 years of operating under different drag racing sanctions, the track was purchased by Bruton Smith and returned to NHRA sanction in 1999 as a showcase facility featuring more than $18 million in renovations. The quarter-mile track features a concrete/asphalt configuration, with 700 feet of concrete launchpad. The track runs from southwest to northeast and sits in a picturesque valley surrounded by lush greenery. The track's elevation is 1,475 feet above sea level.
