FUNNY CAR

Del Worsham (Checker Schuck's Kragen Pontiac Firebird) - "Pure bad luck, pure weirdness. There's a burst panel on the front of the manifold that is there to release pressure if something really bad is brewing inside the motor. Nothing was wrong with our motor, it was purring and the Checker Schuck's Kragen Firebird was hauling. But the panel gave way and opened up and that shuts the motor off. Gone, see ya. Just a fluke, it was a new panel and there was no reason for it to open up. I had my best reaction time of the year, the car was pulling away from him, and the next thing I knew it shut off. We came here this morning thinking we could seriously make a run at $200,000 and then this is how we lose? Ridiculous."

Frank Pedregon (Checker Schuck's Kragen Pontiac Firebird) - "Well Capps better win the race and keep the Funny Car class on top here. His car is running so well right now, it is easily the best car in the class. We tried to just repeat and make the car go down the track but it shook and I tried to pedal it but it lost traction completely when I did that. I thought we had a good shot at it, but I'm proud we got past Larry Dixon and took our Pontiac to the second round."
