Troy Coughlin is no. 3 after day one

Troy Coughlin and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier ended up in the No. 3 position after the first day of qualifying for the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals.

In the first qualifying session Troy posted a run of 6.977 at 199.35 mph. Troy end the session sitting in the No. 7 position.

"It was important for us to make a good opening run and we did as a team," said Troy. "Having solid data going into the second session is a big plus and will help us for the rest of the weekend."

Troy began the second session looking to improve from the No. 7 spot. The men in yellow and black answered the call with authority. Troy rocketed off of the starting line in his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier and posted an impressive 6.911 at 19.88 mph and jumped up to the No. 3 position.

"That run was a perfect example of teamwork," said Troy. "We took the data from the first run and improved our set up. The run felt great all the way down the track. We left some on the table down low and we will focus on that opportunity. Our team is doing a great job working together and we work even harder tomorrow (Saturday)."
