Anderson comes home to Minnesota for the Lucas Oil Nationals
BRAINERD, Minn. -- This weekend Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am, returns home to Minnesota for the running of the 22nd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. Runner-up at this event last year, Anderson the Duluth Minn. native would like to win one in front of the home crowd.
"This is a big race for me," said Anderson who resides in Charlotte, NC. "This is my home race, in my home state. We are going to have tons of family, friends, and old school buddies with us this weekend. It is like the high school reunion I was never able to attend."
"I should have won this race last year. I lost to Jeg (Coughlin) in the final last year, and want another chance at the Brainerd winner's circle."
"I think we have a real good chance of winning here this weekend. This is a new racetrack. It is real smooth and it should not be a problem to get down. We should be able to put every bit of power we have to the track. If we can do that, we should be able to qualify towards the top, and then look forward to some real good Pro Stock racing on Sunday."
"Next to winning Indy for me this is the most important race of the year. If I could win this race in front of all my family and friends it would be one of the biggest thrills of my life, and the Vegas General Construction team is going to give me everything they have to make it happen."
"With my friends and family cheering me on, and this Vegas General Construction team in the pits. I feel like this year we will come out of here winners, and really give our hometown fans something to cheer about."
Qualifying at the 22nd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minn. will begin on Friday August 15 and continue on Saturday Aug. 16. Eliminations will take place on Sunday Aug 17 at 11:00 CST.
