MARSHALL, LITTLE TOP QUALIFIERS IN BOISE

BOISE, Idaho -- Qualifying is complete at the 37th Annual Napa Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford, a round of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Comp Eliminator racer Bob Marshall and Super Stock driver Don Little will begin Sunday's eliminations in the number one positions.

Marshall of Langley, B.C., made a pass of 7.231 seconds to land the top qualifying position in Comp Eliminator. The number two qualifier was Alan Ellis of Mapleton, Utah, who ran a time of 6.937 seconds driving a '23 Roadster.

Little of Westley, Calif., made a pass of 10.025 seconds to put him in the first position over local racer Jon Percy of Pocatello, Idaho, who ended the day with a qualifying pass of 8.980 seconds in Super Stock.

In Top Sportsman, Frank Tamez of Yakima, Wash., finished the day with an outstanding pass in his '07 Mustang with a time of 7.099 seconds at 194.17 mph putting him in the first qualifying position for Sunday's eliminations. Kurtis Tamez of Yakima, Wash., held onto the second position with a pass of 7.106 seconds at 198.10 mph.

Steve Cook of Rexburg, Idaho, took the top spot in Top Dragster with a pass of 6.966 seconds at 193.29 mph. Greg Carlile of Lake Stevens, Wash., qualified next driving a '92 Hadman for a pass of 7.039 seconds at 194.84 mph.

Stock Eliminator driver Charlie Smith of Modesto, Calif., qualified in the first position over John Hill of Fairbanks, Ark. Smith qualified with a time of 10.519 seconds while Hill made a pass of 11.972 seconds in a '87 Camaro.

In the Sportsman Motorcycle category presented by Harley Davidson, Nick Kessler of Medford, Ore., earned the top qualifying spot with a 0.001 reaction time. Danny Patridge of Kennewick, Wash., landed the second qualifying position with a reaction time of 0.003.

Also being held this weekend at the Ignitor event is a specialty Nostalgia Top Fuel exhibition race. Today's top qualifiers were Troy Green of Purcell, Okla., who made a qualifying pass of 5.909 seconds at 228.13 mph to take the first spot. The second qualifying position was clinched by Jack Harris of Kaysville, Utah, who ran a time of 5.941 seconds at 243.63 mph.
