RACING UNDERWAY AT FIREBIRD LUCAS OIL EVENT
BOISE, Idaho -- Racing kicked off today at the 37th Annual Napa Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford, a round of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Bob Marshall qualified on top in Comp Eliminator, while Don Little was the top qualifier in Super Stock.
Marshall of Langley, B.C., with a pass of 7.262 seconds edged out Lucky Snyder of Longmont, Colo., qualifying in the top position in Comp Eliminator. Snyder driving a '62 Sunbeam qualified in the second position with a pass of 8.658 seconds.
Little of Westley, Calif., driving a '70 Challenger powered passed local racer Jon Percy of Pocatello, Idaho to qualify in the first position. Driving a '64 Savoy, Percy ran a time of 8.980 seconds.
In Stock, Charlie Smith of Modesto, Calif., ran a qualifying pass of 10.519 seconds to land the top spot while John Hill of Fairbanks, Alaska drove a '87 Camaro 11.972 seconds the qualify in the second position.
In other categories, Top Sportsman pilot Frank Tamez of Yakima, Wash., ran a time of 7.099 seconds at 194.17 mph qualifying first ahead of Kurtis Tamez of Yakima, Wash. Greg Carlile of Lake Stevens, Wash., driving a '92 Hadman ran 7.039 seconds at 194.84 mph was the top qualifier in Top Dragster edging passed Brian Prszler of Kennewick, Wash. In the Sportsman Motorcycle category presented by Harley Davidson, Danny Patridge of Kennewick, Wash., qualified number one with a reaction time of 0.003 seconds.
