ProCare Rx Dodge Funny Car Runs Best of 6.706 Seconds

HOUSTON, Texas, March 28, 2008 -- Melanie Troxel was frustrated when she left the ProCare Rx Dodge Funny Car pit area Friday night because she wasn't listed among the top 16 qualifiers for Sunday's O'Reilly Spring Nationals. The good news is two more qualifying runs are on tap Saturday.

She and the team are determined to scrub a two-race lull during which she hasn't been in the starting line-ups. The car's tires lost traction early in its initial try and she tried to stay with it, eventually shutting off and coasting across the line with a 6.706-second time at 196.97 mph.

On the second attempt, the car drifted toward the centerline and then made a quick jump to the left and crossed the centerline.

"That run seems to be almost a carbon copy of our second (and last qualifying) run at Gainesville (Fla.)," said Troxel. "That's pretty disappointing."

Troxel, team owner Mike Ashley and crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald are working on ways to eliminate those situations while preparing for Saturday's runs.
