BAYTOWN, Texas (April 2, 2006) -- Three-time Pro Stock NHRA POWERade champion and current 2006 point leader Greg Anderson lost to eventual runner-up Jim Yates in the quarterfinals at the 19th annual NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Nationals at Houston Raceway Park.

Anderson behind the wheel of his KB Racing LLC, Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO turned back Greg Stanfield in the opening round of eliminations. Against Stanfield, Anderson ran a 6.688-second pass to take the win.

Against Yates, Anderson was out first at the green light but slowed, running only a 6.776-second pass. Yates raced to a win light in 6.713 seconds.

"Once again we simply got beat," said Anderson. "We've got to step back and look at what we're doing right and what we're doing wrong and what we can to make our program better. It's a short week as we head to Las Vegas but we plan to stay and test before we head west.

Anderson leaves this event still leading the NHRA POWERade point standing. He has 331 points, 34 points ahead of second.

Anderson and his KB Racing, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO moves directly to Las Vegas, home of team owner Ken Black, for the seven annual SummitRacing.com Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event, first of two held in Las Vegas, will be contested next weekend, April 6-9.
