Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson continued his yeoman approach to the 2012 NHRA season, making two solid runs during the opening day of qualifying at the Tire Kingdom Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL. After opening with a sixth-quickest 6.581-second time in the first session, he came back in the afternoon time trial with a 6.571-second, 210.28 mph, good enough for fifth midway through qualifying.

With two sessions remaining on Saturday, Anderson is naturally targeting improvement both in his race car’s performance, and his starting position for Sunday’s final eliminations.

“Today worked out okay for me, but this Summit Racing team always wants more,” said Anderson. “We’re not happy unless we’re 1-2-3. We’ve got the number one spot right now with Jason (teammate Line), but the other two cars are lagging a little bit behind, so we have to see what we can learn from his car so far and apply it to the others.

“Obviously we came in a little bit off from where we needed to be, and were able to make gains on Jason’s, so it’s up to us to do it with the other two. It will be like starting over, but it’s supposed to be cooler on Saturday, which should work in our favor. Hopefully we can pick up on the direction we went with Jason’s car and make similar improvements with both mine and Ronnie’s (Humphrey) car, getting us all up at the top of the order.”
