Two-Boat Formula One Team set to compete on the Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour

(Lake Hamilton, Fla.) - The Laughlin Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour presented by Bud Light announced today that Wayne Worthy, Owner of Hydro Tec Marine Performance, will compete on the prestigious 2002 Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour with a two-boat powerboat racing team. The team will consist of two‘ Young Guns’, his son, Nathan Worthy and J.R. Saffold of Tampa, Florida. Both have numerous achievements in powerboat racing and will bring an enormous amount of talent to the series.

“ The close relationship we have with Yamaha Motor Corporation allows us to use cutting edge technology that will help on the race course,” said Wayne Worthy, Owner of Hydro-Tec Marine Performance, Inc., a Yamaha vendor and engine builder in Nixa, Missouri.“ Although we don’t have the years of engine development that the other brands have, we have been developing our Formula One engine for 12 years through our High Performance Department. We appreciate the opportunity that Bart Garbrecht of the PROP tour has allowed us and I think the fans of our sport deserve a new look.”

“Yamaha will definitely be a factor this season on the water,” said Bart Garbrecht, President of the P.R.O.P. Tour.“ Yamaha Outboards has been a supporter of the P.R.O.P. Tour for the last three seasons and they are very excited about competing for a full season with a two-boat team. We look forward to working with a professional outboard motor manufacturing company that realizes the benefits and exposure that the P.R.O.P. tour brings with its prime time ESPN2 package.”

Nathan Worthy began his racing career in the Sports C class, followed by three years in the Formula 50 class where he won a National Championship. He also competed in the Formula Two class for three years and in 2001, he secured 11 first places finishes, which included the H.O.T.T. Series Championship, North American Championship, APBA US 1 Point Championship, two Divisional Championships and a Regional Championship.

Saffold has competed in the Formula Two series for three years. In 1996, he was undefeated and secured the APR Superleague Championship, Rookie of the Year Honors, National Championship, US 1 Point Championship, set two world records and was inducted into the Hall of Champions. In 2001, he won the National Championship in the APBA class.
