Estoril, 17th February The Southafrican driver Thomas Schekter, Jaguar
Racing Formula One Test Driver, set the fastest timed lap at Estoril, where
18 drivers from the Open Telefónica Series where having a two-day private
session.
Schekter tested for Vergani Racin, while he looks forward to enter the
Series. Former Ferrari World Champion Jody Schekter, father of the young
talent, sentenced: "Jaguar wants my son to compete this year and there¹s
no doubt the Formula Nissan has no comparison with any other Single Seater
Series"
Portuguese driver Manuel Giao (Scudería Famá) has been the second fastest in
this competitive International Single-Seater Series, that will held its
second meeting in Portugal the next 22th of April.
Giao is back in the Series after a bad experience in the Italian F3000,
"because of the unbelieveble success of the Formula Nissan, in terms of
advertising, promotion, TV audiences and people attendance, and because it
is extremely well organized."
Young Spaniard Victor Ordoñez (Meycom Sport) set the third quickest time in
Estoril, where this impressive Nissan engineered formulas are in the
portuguese track for the very first time. Repsol-Ypf, main sponsor of the
Spanish team, is looking for a portuguese driver to sit by Ordoñez, so they
went through a selection between Rui Aguas, (third classified in the Open
Telefonica Series 2000), and Ricardo Megre (26), former BMW Formula Winner.
Teams and drivers are now heading to another privated session at the
Circuit of Albacete.
