Works deal for Nordschleife classic Carlo van Dam joins Subaru for Nurburgring 24 Hours

VLAARDINGEN - Dutch racing driver Carlo van Dam has joined the Subaru works team for this year's Nurburgring 24 Hours. The Japanese car manufacturer first tested its new Impreza WRX STI earlier this week in Japan. The Impreza will race this May in the 2-litre turbo-class of the renowned endurance event at the over 20 kilometres long Nordschleife.

"Last year I first raced in the 24 hour race at the Nurburgring and finished third with the Volkswagen- team", says Carlo. "I thought it was a great event and a fantastic track, so I was happy to be offered a drive for this year's race with Subaru, for whom I competed already in 2008 in several races of the Japanese GT championship. I am looking forward to working together with them again and obviously for a racing driver it is always a pleasure to be invited to be part of a works team. Also, I of course cherish the opportunity to once again race at the Nordschleife."

Carlo expects to soon be able to reveal more about his 2010 racing program. "Apart from my contract with Subaru for the Nurburgring 24 Hours, I have been offered another interesting drive by another team. Details about that drive I can probably announce this coming week."

The 38th 24h-Rennen at the Nurburgring will start on Saturday May 15.
