Lotus has signed one race driver for the 2010 season, but an announcement
will not be made until his teammate is also under contract.
Team principal Tony Fernandes wrote on his Twitter page at the weekend that
a "public announcement" about drivers will be made "soon".
He told the New Straits Times on Monday: "We will be ready to make the
announcement once we've signed the second driver, but other than that I
can only say that we've moving along very smoothly."
It is believed the signed driver is Jarno Trulli, but the 35-year-old
Italian veteran is testing a NASCAR Sprint Cup car this week and hinting
the American series is an option for 2010.
Fernandes for now is giving nothing away, other than to reveal that the
Malaysian prime minister Najib Tun Razak will make the announcement.
"I can't say anything. That's enough. The PM will be making the
announcement soon," he said.
