Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota to Take Green Flag from the 21st Position at
Texas Motor Speedway
Fort Worth, TX -- David Gilliland, driver of the No. 02 Farm Bureau
Insurance Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for Joe Gibbs Racing,
qualified 21st this afternoon for Sunday's Dickies 500 from Texas Motor
Speedway.
The key word this morning for the Farm Bureau Insurance team was loose,
as David fought an ill-handling race car in the first few mock qualifying
laps this morning during NASCAR Sprint Cup Practice. Still, the team
worked feverishly to get the Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota handling better
in the and by practices end the hard-work could be seen on the speed
chart.
"I went out for our first lap and in turn one the back almost came around
- that's how loose the Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota was on the first run
during practice. It was extremely loose getting in the corner, which
really made me get off the throttle early, which pretty much killed my
first few laps. So, Wally (Brown) and the guys went to work and we kept
getting better and better throughout practice," said David Gilliland
after practice.
The trend of the team making the right adjustments to help the Farm
Bureau Insurance Toyota continued during qualifying, as David laid down a
lap that was fast enough to easily lock the team into the show for
Sunday.
"The Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota felt good and drove much like it did
on our last run during practice. It lacked a little grip in the center
but overall I'm very happy with Wally (Brown) and the team -- they
continued to make the right adjustments and it paid off. All in all, I'm
really excited and I know there will be plenty of Farm Bureau Insurance
agents here on Sunday to cheer us on," said David Gilliland.
