1000 Km of Catalunya - the entry list
46 cars on the track for the first race of the season. who can top that?
Le Mans Series come on strong for their second visit to the Catalan track,
with no less than 12 LMP1s, 16 LMP2s, 4 LMGT1s and 14 LMGT2s!
Aston Martin Racing, forgetting their misfortunes during the Tests, will
take to heart to prove their reliability and efficiency faced with their
renowned opponents: the Courage-Oreca of Hugues de Chaunac's Team and
Signature Plus, the two Pescarolos of the same named team, two Ginettas
Zytek and a Lola Coupe powered by Aston Martin. This, under close scrutiny
by the Kolles Team experts, officially supported by the German manufacturer;
whom we congratulate on their magnificent victory at Sebring last week-end.
In LMP2, 16 cars will fight for the first three places on the podium. To be
underlined: the diversity of this category, nine different chassis are
represented, 7 team nationalities and no less than 3 of the 5 manufacturers
present during the season! One thing is sure, in LMP2, boredom will be
impossible!
In LMGT1, French teams will oppose teams from the East with the Slovenian
ARC Bratislava-Kaneko Team and their Saleen S7-R and the Russians of IPB
Spartak Racing with their beautiful Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT.
Nevertheless, there will be two 100% "Frenchy" teams for this category which
is always extremely disputed: 2008 winner, Luc Alphand and his Corvette C6.R
shared with Patrice Goueslard and Yann Clairay and the Larbre Competition
Saleen S7-R which will be driven by Patrick Bornhauser, Frederic Makowiecki
and David Smet/Hallyday a now regular competitor on circuits.
No less than 14 cars in LMGT2, amongst which cars that the young and less
young dream of: Porsche 997, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo, Aston
Martin Vantage...in all, five different models and well known drivers:
Christophe Bouchut, Marc Lieb, Antonio Garcia, Gianmaria Bruni... This is
the "people" category of the season; from political tenor Lord Drayson, to
Crown heirs like Prince Albert von Thurn und Taxis and those of famous
automobile sport names, Leo Mansell or Nicolas Prost, the latter running in
LMP1. This year, we can bet that the cameras will all be trained on this
category!
