KURT BUSCH
(No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Qualified 2nd
TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING LAP:
"I really felt like coming to the green
(flag) we were going to have our hands full and that it was going to be a
busy 30 seconds. As the lap progressed, I felt like the car was sticking
well, but I felt like I was too tentative to really throw it in the
corner deep and stand on the gas hard and I'm surprised that we're
sitting here right now. I have to thank my guys and the hard the work and
the thought process behind all the changes we made. We changed everything
but the kitchen sink to end up where we are right now. That's been the
theme; we've been a little off in race practice...we'll switch into
qualifying practice and qualifying helps answer some of our questions
going into Saturday's practices. That happened at
California and
Vegas. Today, we're happy to be (qualified) second. It's really exciting
that we have a car that's capable of running where it is, we just need to
fine tune that little bit."
IS THIS ONE OF THOSE DEALS WHERE THE TRACK IS GOING TO GET BETTER AS WE
GO THROUGH THE WEEKEND?
"I feel like the drop off is tremendous from one
lap to the next and the next. Then you get 10 laps in and want to say
'Uncle'. We're all in this boat together. We feel like the tire
is...hopefully a durable tire...that's going to allow us to run on it for
a full fuel run. That's all that we can really ask from Goodyear and
beyond that, it's up to the teams to dial the chassis in. I did talk to
Jamie (McMurray) and we were both scratching our heads a little bit on
how hard (the cars) were to drive. But yet, we seem to have speed so
things are going pretty good."
HOW WAS YOUR CAR IN RACE TRIM DURING TODAY'S PRACTICE?
"We were
searching all over the map. To be honest with you, I really don't
know where we need to start tomorrow. We'll base our conversation
off of what we did here in qualifying which is very similar to what
happened last week at Vegas and the week before at California. We had
questions going into qualifying and qualifying seemed to take care of
some of those issues."
YOUR TEAM SEEMS TO FIND THE RIGHT ANSWERS FOR QUALIFYING?
