David Vuillemin Looks To Clinch U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Pro Privateer Challenge
AURORA, Ill. (April 26, 2007) -- With three rounds remaining on the
2006-07 Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP schedule, Honda's
David Vuillemin, of Murrieta, Calif., holds a 39-point lead over
Honda-mounted Heath Voss, Mico, Texas, in the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco
Company Pro Privateer Challenge.
The top finishing privateer will be awarded a new 2007 Weekend Warrior
Supercross Edition trailer courtesy of Giant RV and $25,000 from US
Smokeless Tobacco Company. The U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company will award
$15,000 and $10,000 to the second and third place finishers respectively
in Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP.
"The privateers are the backbone of supercross and the U.S.
Smokeless Tobacco Company Pro Privateer Challenge is one way of
recognizing their efforts," said Jody Deal, brand manager, USSTC.
"They line-up each week against factory riders and give it their
all. We hope that through this award we can bring the privateer a little
recognition."
Voss holds a slim three-point lead over Kawasaki's Paul Carpenter,
of Ithaca, N.Y., for the runner-up position. Last year Honda-backed Nick
Wey, of DeWitt, picked up top finishing privateer honors. Honda's
Ryan Clark, of Waddell, Ariz., was second, while Kawasaki's Jeff
Gibson, of Blacklick, Ohio, was third.
